Assessment

During the undergraduate programme the student is assessed on five separate elements and must pass in all five:

Study activity
Approval of study activity requires at least 85 per cent attendance each term. Attendance is recorded morning and afternoon by the lecturer. A pass-mark for each term is required before the student can enter for graduation.

Assessment is made by the department, which also has the option to set an assignment presented as substitution for insufficient attendance. Assessment is made within the school and a pass or fail is awarded.

The abovementioned rules for study activity also apply to interdepartmental courses without examination.

Reports
Reports on documentation of course work are marked by the lecturer and are graded as passed or failed. A pass for all reports is a prerequisite before the student may enter for graduation, and if necessary, reports must be rewritten until they are approved.

Examinations
The interdepartmental classes in General chemistry and Preventive conservation I are each concluded with a 3 hour written examination.

Grading is external and a pass or fail is awarded. Both written examinations must be passed in order that the student may be allowed to continue the bachelor programme. Students who fail may resit the examination. Reexaminations are only permitted twice for each course.

As from the bachelor programme 2007-2010 an additional external examination in the curriculum specific to the each department will be introduced. This examination will probably take place in the fourth or fifth semester and will cover instruction equal to approx. 14 ECTS.

This examination will be described in the academic regulations 2008-2009.

Project assignments
Assessment of project assignments is internal and usually takes the form of an oral presentation of the written and practical work before an examination board of two or more persons in the presence of fellow students.

The project assignments are examined according to the 7-point grading scale and each project assignments must be passed in order that the student may be allowed to continue the bachelor programme. I.e. both project assignments must receive a mark of 02 or more.

Students who get the mark 00 or -3 in the examination are allowed one month from the first presentation in order to improve their project assignment. Such extra time may only be granted the individual student twice for each assignment.
